The mission of the LIB is to research on biodiversity and its changes. In order to better understand the current mass extinction of flora and fauna, researchers are looking for connections and causes of – often – human-made changes.

Accordingly, the Museum Koenig on almost 5000 square metres of exhibition space awakens an understanding of the need to protect, conserve and research biodiversity. Human Activities and their impact on species extinction are presented in the overall concept of our "life in the global network".

As part of the Aktionsplan, the Museum Koenig is pushing its projects as a special "place of information exchange".

Within this framework, a barrier-free research bus will travel to schools, kindergartens and public places in and around Bonn. Equipped with exhibits from the museum, workstations and impluses, it will be accessible to everyone. Following an inclusive outreach approach it will enhance relationships and engagement. It is aimed at all curious people from preschool age.

Another highlight are the “Bonn Biodiversity Days” of biodiversity, with the Conference of Species - Together against the extinction of species on November 20 & 21, 2021 and the FörTaxCon, which takes place for the first time in advance - the conference of the FörTax project, to promote taxonomic knowledge as a basis for the Natural reserve. In addition to the professional exchange on the topics of biodiversity, taxonomy, environmental observation and the communication of species knowledge, the dialogue and the nwetwork between stakeholders from the field of biodiversity will be intensified. The aim is to promote Citizen Science projects and to implement more joint activities against the loss of biodiversity.
